I love collaborating with my husband, Colin, and putting our heads together to come up with an awesome project. We love visiting The Wood Store, which is an amazing charity run organisation in Brighton. They collect wood, that would otherwise end up in landfill, from building sites and other places that have ‘waste’ wood.
We had previously bought a really cool little bottle opener and of course we couldn’t leave without some wood to put it on. Once we decided what size we wanted the bottle opener back board to be, Colin got to work making a design. We both like to brainstorm the design ideas together, sketching, talking and making notes. Once we’ve both got a clear Colin will use his superior computer skills to bring our vision to life. A custom made bottle opener was in the works….
Continue ReadingAfter being inspired by the amazing Paper Panda I had wanted to have a go myself at creative Paper-cutting. If you don’t know already Paper Panda had really seemed to re-popularise hand made paper cuts.
Using only a scalpel and a steady hand, I was commissioned to make a Beauty and the Beast paper cut design. In doing this paper cut project tutorial I’d love to show you how it turned out and some of the things I learned along the way.

I used to do a lot of painting years ago so it’s been just wonderful to get back into it. I had forgotten what a joy it is to just sit and paint. There’s never an excuse needed to do some creative watercolour painting or any crafty activity for that matter, but this I especially enjoyed.
Continue ReadingJust lately I’ve really been able to get back into painting again. I used to paint a lot years ago and really enjoyed painting just for the joy of doing it. I’ve been lucky to have some time recently to get back into it and I’d like to share a few new things I’ve been doing.
I’d like to show you this little gift frame set I made for a friend. Now with my own toddler who’s now three, a lot of my friends are also having babies too. What better gift for a friend with a newborn than some handmade nursery decor? For this gift set I painted a cute little baby lion character holding a ‘bloon. Who doesn’t love baby animals and bloons?

Continue ReadingI’d like to share a creative way to showcase your handmade items and products, a way that really draws your audience in to click on your product, hopefully resulting in a sale.
I’ve found that this technique really helps to draw your potential buyers into to clicking on your product. By spending a bit of time creating a ‘hero’ image for your product you can help to encourage your audience to click and invite them for a better look. This technique assumes you’re able to use Photoshop or some other graphic editing software. If you’re not good with that sort of thing then I would be more than happy to help you.
Continue ReadingI’ve been having a lot of fun this weekend trying my hand at some creative string art. String art has definitely made a resurgence in the craft scene recently, so after creating a comic book inspired piece I wanted to show you how I did it.
String art is super cool, loads of fun, and always looks amazing as long as it’s executed properly. Read on because I’m going to show you some new techniques and best practices while we make an awesome marvel character inspired design.
